Monsoon time
A lot of seedlings are itching to get outside but the rains keep coming and if I gave into temptation, the poor little guys would sink into muddy oblivion. The geraniums appear to be happy where they are.Crystal ball is wisely staying out of the when-will-the-rain-stop guessing game.
The only sunny corner of the kitchen counter has been usurped by the orchids and the Christmas cactus, which gave over its original space to more needy plants.
the first overflow of petunias landed here in the family room, nudging my beloved horse sculpture off the pedestal and to the back of the sofa. The hibiscus stays where it is because its heavy.
The petunias under lights are really getting anxious. Why the empty containers? It's my convoluted plan for keeping the colors sorted. fortunately so far it's working.
And now here's the study where I spend a lot of time. A couple of orchids I just divided--I'm waiting to see if that was a success, a miniature rose and tucked away, some cantaloupes growing from seed. Growing slowly I might add.
So there they are.
Waiting.

Holding Pattern
The garden is on hold until the weather warms up a bit. We were almost there until snow flurries and high winds messed it up, so we wait.
See that neat stack of pavers? A kind lady gave them to me via Kijiji, keeping intact my title of world class scavenger/recycler.
I await a warm day to start laying the pavers, or to be truthful, to find a willing son or grandson to lay them.
My plan is to eventually eradicate every blade of grass.
I don't use pesticides so the removal of the lawn will be a welcome thing, and I'm sure the neighbors will be pleased.
For amusement, I watch the silly geese honking their return to the neighborhood.
Oh have you guys been away? And you chose to return. Pity.
Face it people, geese don't have a lot going for them. Try skidding through the park once they've been visiting.
Nasty.
Yep, it's time for the warm weather.

Anybody Listening?
My son Mike just returned from a Christian mission to Israel and Palestine where he mingled with civilians from both sides and visited their homes.
At my request he left a message in what was formerly called the wailing wall.
I'm the J.P. part of the signatures.
There is a saying: after visiting one week a writer announces he has a book to write about his experiences, then two weeks go by and he figures maybe it will be an article and after three weeks he no longer mentions it.
I wonder if the knot can ever be untangled.

Hello Stranger
The sun came out and the temperature inched up to a speck above zero so I rushed outside to check on the weed production, my best crop by far.
This little guy appeared in the raised veggie bed.
I have no idea how he got there but he's welcome.
I don't know why I don't just fill the beds with pansies; they are indestructible and they bloom their little heads off.
