Done

I was going to spend the winter working on my book. Really.

Instead I obsessed on re-doing the bedroom.

Here it is sporting the new wall color.

When my son the carpenter returns from roaming through Thailand and Malaysia I will ask him to build me a couple of bedside tables.

Now I have to look for another project so that I can procrastinate even further.

I'm sure I'll get at the book.

Perhaps in the spring.

Day Two

The Empress of Dirt offered to paint my bedroom and she is sandwiching this in between house upkeep, ferrying kids to lessons and appointments as well as her gruelling exercise program, keeping her fit and willing to paint in her spare time.

Day one was that boring part--taping everything in sight and stripping the room of it's character.

This is the end of day two. You can see Max on the bed watching the Olympics (hockey segment here) and the head of the Empress is to the right of the television.

I am lying on the bed waiting instructions.

Winter Gremlins At Work

The bedroom walls need a change of color. The previous owner chose a deep browny-red and since I like intense colors, this worked well for a time.

Now it's time for that brown tone to go and make it more of a deep rose.

Or Wedgewood Blue?

The paint samples were taped to the wall and I studied them for days.

The rejects were piling up fast but nothing seemd quite right.

I was down to two shades of rose when I realized I was done with rose. finished. kaput.

I picked Persian Melon. It's one of the deep yellows, second from the left on the wall. I've never been a yellow person until recently.

Blame it on the winter gremlins.

Winter Storm

Yesterday the snow fell softly and damply and seemed determined never to stop.

This morning the back looked like this.

Dozens of Grackles (I think) descended, looking for food but they haven't yet spotted the feeder on the deck.

This little guy looked so forlorn. I bet he wishes he had packed his bags and flown south when he had the chance.

TheTrack

This is the parking lot at 7:30 this morning.

I like the way the reflection shows some of my fellow walkers passing behind me.

There was a scratch hockey game and that always livens things up a bit.
