The Cookie Connoisseur

I picked up the Princess after school to visit with me.
She sampled my freshly baked cookies and declared them excellent.
However, she thought I'd like to know that her mom makes her cookies this size...

Harry's Day

Harry spends his day testing out the perfect nap conditions.

The new tunnel was pretty good while he rested before breakfast.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

while I was making the bed he caught forty winks leaning against the bedroom wall. Is that a wink or are you too weary to open both eyes, Harry?

I tossed the basin over near the basement door and within seconds, another good napping spot was being tested.

Funny thing, Harry. We're always in the same room at the same time even though you seem to be forever napping. Coincidence? I think not.

After the Rain

The sky looked like this during my early morning walk. I seriously considred dashing back home to bed.

Deep inside the swamp,a touch of red.

Back home, Max was trying out his new tunnel. That's what the pet shop lady said it was, and it was free. Max says it's okay, whatever it is and it's tonier than a paper bag.

Pond Life

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I am amazed how much the goldfish have grown in their pond.

I also accidentally found out how to get rid of the algae; I was topping up the water and forgot to turn off the garden hose. As you can tell, this is the algae period.
Fortunately the little guys didn't float away and now you can see right to the bottom.

Here is Julius hiding out in a safe place. He is still flirting with disaster by lurkling in the grass by the flagstones. You have to tread carefully in order to avoid his premature death and a residual massive conscience.

Let's SkipWinter

This bear used to earn his keep as a pool thermometer and when I moved to this pool-free house, I brought him along to reside in the fish pond.

Julius likes the company and sometimes hitches a ride on his raft to chug around together, but never in time for a photo op.

this is the way Julius greeted me first thing this morning. Too bad he can't talk. I haven't even heard a croak yet.

The geraniums are the garden work horses; the always look good and bloom until winter taops them on the shoulder.

Judging by the thermometer, summer is carrying on a while longer and I say amen to that.

My Intrepid Campers

The cats had been had been noshing on tinned meats and cheap supermarket crunchy stuff until I got around to researching what they should be eating.

On the weekend I bought the right stuff at a handsome price and since it was specials week, the pet supply store tossed in a cat tent.

A* cat* tent.
so far they haven't ever set foot on the lawn or anything else outdoors.

Anyway, they love it and take turns napping in it. This morning Maxie flicked his paws (his version of the finger) and tried to work up a hiss at Harry, who wanted in.

Harry lay on the floor nearby, patiently tapping his little paws.

Finally, big old Max lumbered out and Harry scuttled in.

What's next--an outhouse and an hibachi?

Those Imaginitive Rotarians

Do you suppose the Rotarians have a jump on the rest of us?
Have they have figured out a shortcut?
Never mind actually building the dream house for the lottery, let's just cut to the chase; the winner gets a splashy funeral and the house is waiting, way up there...

Huck Finn Lives

This inventive little guy decided the water was a mite cool this morning and looked for a way to keep his tuchie warm.

Wandering

I love the look of this front yard that I pass on my morning walks. Our summers are getting hotter and dryer and removing the parched grass seems a good idea.

The swamp is showing its first signs of leaf turning, alas.

I stopped at the pond with the notion I’d photograph the ducks but the cloud reflection on the water was intriguing.

Later I drove into the countryside to check out the auction and found nothing of interest. I love the flatbed arrangement these horses' Mennonite owner created, ostensibly to haul away all sorts of big tools and machinery. That should do it.
